These bi-monthly sessions are a space to give the adults in our community a regular opportunity to come together socially and creatively.
These sessions have evolved from its starting point where MED Theatre intermittently hosted an adults’ improvisation group which helped our Founder, Mark Beeson, to form ideas for community plays and the writing of scripts.
Nowadays, we offer experiences of various different creative skills including playwriting, acting, voice, poetry, improvisation, and mime, but we are also open to ideas from our participants about future sessions, so get in touch if you have a suggestion!
Please email helengilbert@medtheatre.co.uk if you’d like to sign up to the mailing list to hear about future sessions.
Improvisation (aka impro) is the art of bringing yourself, together with others, into a state of presence and connection, and acting collectively and spontaneously to produce drama for the enjoyment of an audience (real or imagined).
Sound hard?! Donโt worry โ thatโs what impro games are for!

Impro uses games to create a container within which you are freed up to experience things youโve never experienced before. Without the usual interferences of the mind and anxiety that wants to do well, look good or not look like a fool.
The games are a playful way in which to bring about state of flow and connection. The way this works is that the games keep our mind occupied on a task so we can allow the imagination to act freely and collectively without the constraints or anxiety of the thinking mind.
Dive into the flow, have fun and build crucial life skills โ effortlessly.

A great way to meet other adults and try a new skill. This impro session is a taster for a course running in September, so why not try it out first.ย
