APPLIED AND SITE-SPECIFIC THEATRE
Investigating the 'offstage' uses of theatre and how it can be applied in unusual settings
MED Theatre team members will show students some of the site-specific settings that we have performed in, and will talk about how the place of performance can impact a play and its audience.
Students will also be guided through MED Theatre’s experience in using theatre as a means of bringing together communities, and given the opportunity to explore how they might use theatre in this way themselves.
This can be delivered as a single day workshop or in a week of more in-depth exploration.
2-3 hrs for £150-225 1 day for £300 2 days (including a visit to a Dartmoor performance location) for £500
WHY RURAL COMMUNITY THEATRE?
An exploration into the benefits and uses of theatre and the arts in rural community settings
Students receive a unique insight into the origins of MED Theatre through discussion and original practical exercises with MED Theatre’s team. They will explore first hand the historical, cultural and environmental elements of MED Theatre’s unique style of work.
Taking a close look at one of MED Theatre’s 40+ original community plays, students will be asked to discuss why this play might be suitable for community actors and how it is relevant to a rural cast and audience.
This can be delivered as a single day workshop or in a week of more in-depth exploration

WORK EXPERIENCE AND INTERNSHIPS
AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE MENTORED BY THE MED THEATRE TEAM, FOR INDIVIDUALS OR SMALL GROUPS
Each student has a different experience with us dependent on their interests and our current programme. They may be involved in the devising, rehearsing or performance of a production; shadowing school workshops; be immersed in film editing and production; engage with our young company members at an evening session… whatever the focus, they will always receive a practical understanding of the running of a community theatre organisation.
We advise anyone interested in coming to join us to get in touch so that we can discuss their interests and requirements to ensure they will gain the greatest benefit from their time with us.
