We were back on tour in March 2024 with our latest production!
The play was part of a wider project called ‘What If…?’, made possible with support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

What was it about?
A group of children are dropped off at a location on Dartmoor excited to enjoy a fun week of camping, when their leaders have an accident and have to be rushed to hospital leaving the children alone and unprovided for.
Unbeknown to them, they are part of an experiment that their parents secretly signed them up for: is the hunter-gatherer instinct still intact? Can humans survive with only the land to live off despite the present-day short cuts to food and a reliance on technology?
The scientists and parents watch on hidden cameras as the dangers get more and more extreme until eventually they need to step in, but for one child does their intervention come too late?
What is a relaxed performance?
For many people, a trip to the theatre can be a daunting experience.
The relaxed performance style varies from show to show, and company to company. Changes might be made to lighting, sound levels, seating arrangements, or the length of the show. Primarily, a relaxed performance is exactly what it says on the tin: relaxed!
Everybody is welcome at all MED Theatre performances, but we know that sometimes it can be easier when you feel you can relax. Whether you have a young or noisy child, struggle with sitting for too long, are neurodiverse, prefer not to leave the house at night, or have any other reason to choose this performance – we’d love to see you there!
Because MED Theatre tours in community venues our work is inevitably differently accessed than standard theatre venues. If you would like to find out what changes we are making specifically, or would like to discuss your own needs, please email helengilbert@medtheatre.co.uk or call 01647 441356.
2024, for the first time, MED Theatre hosted a relaxed matinee performance in Manaton for those who might otherwise struggle to attend our shows, or would prefer an afternoon performance.
