MED Theatre’s education workshops are popular in schools across Devon and the South West.
For both primary and secondary we work hard to weave elements from the National Curriculum together with MED Theatre’s core values and ethos – the use of material from our local area to inspire creativity and an exploration into the world around us.
“It is so refreshing to do something creative and be active.”
Teacher training opportunities
How to use drama in the classroom:
MED Theatre’s Education team can provide in house training bespoke to your teachers’ needs and passions.
In this workshop, teachers will be a ‘student’ for the session, experiencing a wide variety of drama exercises and techniques that can be used directly in the classroom. After the practical element, they will be invited to share their own ideas of variations on these techniques in an open forum guided by our theatre professionals, an opportunity to make the training truly relevant to them and their subject matter. Handouts and follow-up resources are provided to support the session.
Devon Cultural Education Partnership (DCEP)
MED Theatre is part of Devon Cultural Educational Partnership (DCEP).
DCEP is a strategic partnership working together to increase engagement in cultural education for children and young people in our local area.
DCEP currently meets twice per term as a whole group, and we also form working parties when needed. We have an online platform where we share communications and relevant information within the group.
We warmly welcome representatives from cultural organisations, education settings, music education hubs, the youth sector, local authority, local employers, creative industries, freelancers, organisations with specialisms such as health and planning, and local communities to get in touch and take part in DCEP.
